چکیده
this study aimed to evaluate the cellular toxicity of two newly-released acrylic resins (futura gen and gc reline hard) in comparison with the conventional heat-cure resin (meliodent).sample discs from each acrylic resin were placed in 24-well culture plates along with l929 mouse fibroblast cell line. a mixture of the rpmi 1640 medium, antibiotics and 10% fbs was added to the plates and the specimens were incubated in a co(2) incubator. the amount of light absorption by each plate was determined after 1 hour, 24 hours and 1 week by the mtt assay and elisa. the cytotoxic effect of the resins was compared among groups using the two-way anova and further paired comparison was performed using the post-hoc tukey's test.after 1 hour, futura gen displayed a significantly lower level of light absorption in comparison with meliodent (p=0.03). after 24 hours, gc reline hard rendered a significantly lower level of light absorption compared to meliodent (p=0.02). after one-week of incubation, the mean absorption rates for gc reline hard, meliodent and futura gen were relatively similar (p>0.05). the lowest and highest level of cytotoxicity among all resins were observed after one week and 1 hour of immersion in water, respectively.all the tested resins induced some degree of cytotoxicity. cytotoxicity of futura gen, gc reline hard and meliodent resins failed to show any significant reduction from 24 hours to one week. thus, it is recommended to immerse the dentures in water for 24 hours prior to delivery to the patient.

متن کاملPhysical properties of four acrylic denture base resins.
Resistance to impact fracture and high flexural strength are desirable properties of denture base acrylics. The purpose of this laboratory study was to determine the Izod impact strength, the flexural strength, the flexural modulus, and the yield distance for four premium denture resins. Bar specimens 86 x 11 x 3 mm of Lucitone 199, Fricke Hi-I, ProBase Hot, and Sledgehammer Maxipack were fabri...
متن کاملCorrelation in the mechanical properties of acrylic denture base resins.
The aim of the present study was to measure various mechanical properties of acrylic denture base resins, including flexural modulus, flexural strength, fracture toughness, Barcol and Vickers hardness and their related properties, and to investigate correlations between different mechanical properties. Resin specimens were prepared according to manufacturers' recommended instructions. The mecha...
متن کاملColor difference threshold determination for acrylic denture base resins.
This study aimed to set evaluation indicators, i.e., perceptibility and acceptability color difference thresholds, of color stability for acrylic denture base resins for a spectrophotometric assessing method, which offered an alternative to the visual method described in ISO 20795-1:2013. A total of 291 disk specimens 50±1 mm in diameter and 0.5±0.1 mm thick were prepared (ISO 20795-1:2013) and...
متن کاملEffect of Staining Solutions on Color Stability of Acrylic Denture Base Resins - A Spectrophotometric Evaluation
The purpose of this study was to quantitatively evaluate the effect of staining solutions by spectrophotometric method on color stability of the commercially available acrylic denture base resins polymerized by different methods of cure, materials, and immersion periods. Commercially available heat cure resin (Travelon) and self cure resin (RR repair material) were selected for the study. In ca...
متن کاملFactors affecting the bond strength of denture base and reline acrylic resins to base metal materials
OBJECTIVE The shear bond strengths of two hard chairside reline resin materials and an auto-polymerizing denture base resin material to cast Ti and a Co-Cr alloy treated using four conditioning methods were investigated. MATERIAL AND METHODS Disk specimens (diameter 10 mm and thickness 2.5 mm) were cast from pure Ti and Co-Cr alloy. The specimens were wet-ground to a final surface finish of 6...
